The Development of Pumani has been a collaboration between Hadleigh Health Technologies, Rice University, Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, the Malawian Ministry of Health, and Texas Children’s Hospital. Based on the results from clinical testing, the Pumani partners received additional funding to distribute Pumani units to every public central and district hospital in Malawi.

In partnership with Rice360° Institute for Global Health Technologies, the Swaziland Ministry of Health, and the Clinton Health Access Initiative – more than 213,000 syringe clips have been delivered to Swaziland, where they are being used by nearly 12,000 participants in the national Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV/AIDS (PMTCT) program to facilitate the accurate dosage of liquid antiretroviral medication to help prevent the transmission of the virus from mothers to children.
The Pumani CPAP helps the baby to breathe by keeping the lungs open. It’s really helping us out because where we didn’t have hope, now we have hope. Indira Chikomoni

Neonatal Nurse, Zomba Central Hospital, Malawi

I was starting a child on a new Anti-Retroviral (medication) here in Swaziland that is dosed with liquid. Without even asking, our pharmacy here at Baylor has been automatically dispensing the appropriately sized clip for the child! I was so excited to see that the clips are being used appropriately! Stephanie Marton

Pediatrician, Baylor International Pediatric AIDS Initiative, Swaziland

The quickness of setup, the ease of use, and the proven effectiveness of the Pumani infant CPAP make it a treasured tool in the fight against respiratory issues to save young lives in rural Haiti. Lori Moise
